Kardashian Sisters Sued For $180 Million Over Makeup Line

Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian are being sued for a hefty amount after being accused for breach of contract, fraud and deceit, breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing, breach of fiduciary duty, promissory estoppel and negligent misrepresentation. (Whew!)

You may remember that the infamous reality star sisters had come out with a makeup line named “Kardashian Khroma,” which was later renamed to “Kardashian Beauty” due to trademark issues with the word “Khroma.” They had numerous (allegedly edited) ads for the collection in 2012, but then the company Boldface encountered financial problems. Hillair Capital Management, the company suing, bought the company in 2014 and partnered up with the sisters as co-owners with a $10 million venture.

Now, Hillair is claiming the Kardashians refused to continue promoting the line, which eventually caused it to fail. In the court papers filed in Los Angeles on Monday, the firm states that it “agreed to put up millions of dollars to help the Kardashians salvage their struggling” line, but the sisters were to blame for damaging the brand themselves despite their responsibility of being the “faces of the line, and [to] actively promote, market and support the line.”

Hillair is reportedly seeking the investment and lost profits, estimated to be up to $180 million, after the Kardashians allegedly purposely sabotaged the contract so they could get a “better, more lucrative deal” elsewhere and even threatened to pull their names from the products.

Settling the amount shouldn’t be a problem for the wealthy reality stars, so we’re betting the case won’t even reach a jury trial.
